গবেষকদের জ্ঞাতব্য

বাংলাদেশ এশিয়াটিক সোসাইটি পত্রিকায় এশিয়ার সমাজ, সাহিত্য, শিক্ষা, দর্শন ও প্রাসঙ্গিক বিষয়ে রচিত মৌলিক গবেষণা-প্রবন্ধ প্রকাশিত হয়। গবেষকদের জ্ঞাতার্থে পত্রিকায় প্রবন্ধ জমা দেয়ার নিয়মাবলি নিম্নে প্রদত্ত হলো:

১. পত্রিকায় প্রকাশের জন্য দুই কপি পাণ্ডুলিপি কম্পিউটার কম্পোজ করে সিডিসহ জমা দিতে হবে। কম্পিউটার কম্পোজ করার নিয়ম নিম্নরূপ:

➽ কম্পিউটার কম্পোজ করার জন্য বাংলা বিজয় সফটওয়্যার ব্যবহার করতে হবে (ভারসন বিজয় ৪.০ বা বিজয় ২০০৩)। টাইপ/ ফন্ট SutonnyMJ ব্যবহার করতে হবে।
➽ কাগজের সাইজ হবে A4 । প্রতি পৃষ্ঠায় মার্জিন থাকবে উপরে ২ ইঞ্চি, নিচে ২ ইঞ্চি, ডানে ১ ইঞ্চি এবং বামে ১.৬ ইঞ্চি। প্রবন্ধে লেখকের পেশাগত পরিচয় ও ঠিকানা থাকতে হবে।

২. প্রত্যেক প্রবন্ধের সাথে গবেষকদের এই মর্মে একটি প্রত্যয়নপত্র জমা দিতে হবে যে:
➽ জমাকৃত প্রবন্ধের লেখক তিনি/ তাঁরা;
➽ এটি একটি মৌলিক গবেষণা প্রবন্ধ;
➽ প্রবন্ধটি ইতঃপূর্বে অন্য কোনো পত্রিকা বা গ্রন্থে প্রকাশিত হয়নি কিংবা প্রকাশের জন্য অন্য কোথাও জমা দেওয়া হয়নি;
➽ এই প্রবন্ধ বিষয়ক সকল দায়িত্ব লেখক বহন করবেন।

৩. প্রকাশের জন্য মনোনীত কিংবা অমনোনীত কোনো পাণ্ডুলিপি ফেরত দেওয়া হয় না। প্রবন্ধ প্রকাশিত হলে লেখক পত্রিকার একটি কপি ও প্রবন্ধের ১০ কপি অফপ্রিন্ট বিনা মূল্যে পাবেন।

৪. প্রবন্ধ বাংলা একাডেমী প্রমিত বাংলা বানানের নিয়ম অনুসরণে অথবা সংসদ বাঙ্গালা অভিধান, ব্যবহারিক বাংলা অভিধান, চলন্তিকা প্রভৃতি অভিধানের প্রথম ভুক্তি (entry) অনুযায়ী রচিত হওয়া বাঞ্ছনীয়।

৫. উদ্ধৃতির ক্ষেত্রে মূল বানানের কোনো পরিবর্তন হবে না। গবেষক কোনো বিশেষ বানান-বৈশিষ্ট্য রক্ষায় সচেষ্ট হলে তা অক্ষুণ্য রাখা হবে। টীকা ও বক্তব্যের উৎস ও উল্লেখ স্বতন্ত্রভাবে করতে হবে। টীকার ক্ষেত্রে শব্দের ওপর সুপারস্ক্রিপ্টে (যেমন বাংলাদেশ) সংখ্যা ব্যবহার করাই নিয়ম। প্রবন্ধের শেষে সংখ্যা অনুসারে টীকা উপস্থাপন করতে হবে।

৬. বক্তব্যের উৎস উল্লেখের ক্ষেত্রে সরাসরি গ্রন্থ বা প্রবন্ধ-লেখকের নাম, প্রকাশকাল ও পৃষ্ঠা নম্বর উল্লেখ করতে হবে। এশীয়, বিশেষতঃ বাংলার মুসলমানদের নাম পূর্ণভাবে লেখা যাবে। কিন্তু ইউরোপীয় নামের ক্ষেত্রে প্রথমে পদবি ব্যবহার করা হবে।

৭. মূল পাঠের মধ্যে উদ্ধৃতি তিন লাইনের বেশি হলে পৃথক অনুচ্ছেদে তা উপস্থাপন করতে হবে। কবিতার উদ্ধৃতিতে মূলের পঙ্ক্তি-বিন্যাস রক্ষা করতে হবে।

৮. বই ও পত্রিকার নাম বাঁকা (italic) অক্ষরে হবে (যেমন, বই: বৃহৎ বঙ্গ; পত্রিকা: বাংলাদেশ এশিয়াটিক সোসাইটি পত্রিকা)। মূল পাঠে বিদেশী শব্দ থাকলে তা-ও একই নিয়মে লিখতে হবে। বিদেশী শব্দ বাংলা প্রতিবর্ণীকরণের নিয়ম অনুযায়ী লিখিত হবে। কিন্তু ব্যক্তি ও বইয়ের নাম প্রথমবার উল্লেখের সময় তা প্রথম বন্ধনীর মধ্যে ইংরেজিতে লিখতে হবে।

৯. প্রবন্ধের শেষে টীকা (যদি থাকে) এবং টীকা র পরে তথ্যনির্দেশ/গ্রন্থপঞ্জি সংযোজিত হবে। প্রত্যেক ভাষার গ্রন্থ ও প্রবন্ধ পৃথকভাবে উপস্থাপিত হবে এবং এ উপস্থাপনরীতি হবে বর্ণানুক্রমিক। গ্রন্থের একাধিক লেখক থাকলে গ্রন্থপঞ্জিতে সকলের নাম উল্লেখ থাকতে হবে।

১০. প্রবন্ধের একটি সারসংক্ষেপ অবশ্যই দিতে হবে।

১১. যৌথ নামে লিখিত প্রবন্ধ সোসাইটির বাংলা পত্রিকায় প্রকাশের জন্য গ্রহণ করা হয় না।

Guidelines for Contributors

The Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a peer-reviewed journal. Manuscripts submitted for publication in the journal should be printed, double-spaced on one side of A4 size paper with generous margins, and should not normally exceed 10,000 words. In addition, a soft copy of the manuscript should be submitted. A quotation that will run more than fifty words should be set off as a single-spaced, double-indented paragraph. Notes and references should be numbered consecutively throughout and be placed at the foot of the page. Tables should be given separate numbers in the manuscript, such as Table 1, Table 2, etc. with running headings.

Notes and References should be cited as follows:

1. P.J. Marshall, Bengal: The British Bridgehead, The Cambridge History of India, (Cambridge 1987), p. 77.

2. Willem Van Schendel, ‘Economy of the Working Classes’. Sirajul Islam (ed.), History of Bangladesh 1704-1971, Vol. II, (Economic History), (Asiatic Society of Bangladesh 1992), pp. 542-99.

DECLARATION
A manuscript which is concurrently under consideration by another journal or press or which has been published elsewhere will not be considered for publication in the Journal.

The author of a paper will sign a declaration to the effect that (i) the work submitted has been written by him/her; s/he takes public responsibility for the content of the paper; (iii) the content of the paper has not been published before in any referred journal or has not been submitted to such journal for publication; and (iv) s/he accords consent to the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh to publish the paper.


BOOK REVIEW
Books sent to the journal for review should be given in duplicate.

Guidelines to authors

The Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh publishes original research papers related to any field of sciences from anywhere in the world.

All manuscripts written in English and typed on one side of a good quality paper (A4) with one and a half space and 2.54 cmmargins on all sides should be submitted in duplicate (one copy without identity of the authors) to the Editor. However, authors from overseas countries may submit soft copy of the paper. Regarding publication of the paper after review, the decision of the Editorial Board shall be final. All papers accepted by the Editorial Board are subjected to editorial modifications.

The manuscript of a full paper, preferably be limited within 12 typed pages (A4) including tables, figures, graphs, references, etc. For short communication it should not exceed five pages.

The manuscript should contain the following sub-titles in sequence: Title, Abstract, Key words, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgements, if any, and References. In case of ‘Short Communication’ no sub-titles are necessary.

Title: It should be brief and specific.  The manuscript will have a separate title page giving name of the paper, authors name and address and a running head.

Abstract: It should not exceed 200 words containing the gist of results only.

Key words: Should not exceed 6 words and it should be after Abstract.

Text: The text of the article should be clear and precise. Introduction should be concise, precise and relevant to the study. Methods already published should be indicated by references. In case of modifications of a method give explicit descriptions. Results should be stated concisely and presented logically referring to tables and graphs. The same data should not be used both for the tables and for the graphs and/or figures. Simple data may be presented as a text instead of Tables and Figs. Each result should be followed by discussion or interpretation (in any case the Results and Discussion must not he separated) with appropriate reference(s). Discussion should deal with the obtained results and related results published nationally and internationally. Concluding remarks (without heading) must be given (that tally with the objective) in the last paragraph. The references in the text should be arranged chronologically.

Units: All measurements must be given in SI (International System) or SI-derived units.

Tables, Graphs and Figures: Number of tables, graphs and figures should be minimum. However, these should be typed separately. The graphs and figures should be drawn giving statistical analysis and property labelled. The figures and graphs should be properly drawn with bold, solid lines so that these could be reduced up to half or less of the original. The photographs should be submitted on glossy papers or in JPEG format. Symbols in the graphs should be distinct and labels should be readable. Coloured photographs are also accepted.
